AUSTIN ATTORNEY PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

United States Attorney Johnny Sutton announced that 42-year-old Douglas Michael Stum of Austin, TX, pleaded guilty this afternoon to possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors. As a result, Stum faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

On June 23, 2006, FBI agents executed a search warrant of Stum’s residence and three computers. A forensic analysis of Stum’s computers revealed they contained over one thousand images of child pornography including still images and videos of infants being sexually abused.

On February 22, 2007, at approximately 9:20 a.m., FBI agents arrested Stum without incident at his place of employment, identified as the law firm of Diamond, McCarthy, Taylor, Findley and Lee, located at 6504 Bridgepoint Parkway, Austin, Texas. The arrest was based upon a federal grand jury indictment returned on February 21, 2007, and unsealed today charging Stum with Possession of Materials Involving the Sexual Exploitation of Minors, and Possession of an Obscene Visual Representation of the Sexual Abuse of a Child. On June 6, 2006, FBI agents executed a search warrant of Stum’s residence and computers. A forensic analysis of Stum’s computers revealed they contained thousands of images of child pornography, to include still images and videos of infant children.
